“Well, I can give you kids a ride… to the station!” The officer says and laughs.  “But seriously, I’ll take you in.  No problem.  Where’re you looking to go?”

“Sure, that’d be great; thanks,” you say, and the guy agrees.  (After all, he has to be joking, right?)
